Assignment 2 Symbols


Symbols from left to Right 

1. This symbol means 
2. This is a picnic area found in parks. 
3.This is a camp symbol and it is usually found in parks. 
4. This is a bathroom sign and it is usually found in many places. 
5. That is a parking symbol and is usually found in parking lots/spaces. 
6. This is a symbol that represents a place to sleep maybe a hotel ? 
7. This is a restaurant sign and it is found on yellow pages book or the internet. 
8. This is a hitchhiking symbol meaning people can go through there. 
9.   This symbol means people that have disabilities, i see them a lot in parking spaces.
10.This symbol is a question marks and i usually means more information or questions.
11.This symbol means food and that apple and the gallon can be apple juice. 
12. This is a symbol that represents a phone, usually found in freeways. 
13.This symbol may mean a way for people to go rock climbing. 
14.This is a symbol for boats. 
15.This is an anchor and it is usually found in boats. 
16. This appears to be a symbol to throw away a cigarette.
17. This is a sailing sign and is usually found in the sea and beaches. 
18 This is a ship.
19. This sign means that swimming may be aloud, usually found in pools or beaches. 
20. This symbol means that you can go fishing.

23.This means that you  can ski going downwards without many dangers.

26. This is a skating symbol and it is usually found in beaches and parks. 
27. This symbol represents a person on a horse it must mean that horse riding is allowed in parks. 
28.This symbol may represent that no horses are allowed or that you have to store the horses. 
29.This is a person riding a bike and it is usually found in streets and almost every place possible. 
30. This is a metro sign and is found in streets. 
31.This is a bus sign and it is found on the streets most of the time. 
32.This is a symbol that represents the bus and it is usually found in manuals or the internet maps. 
33.This symbol represents a person riding a motorcycle, usually found in streets. 
34. This symbol represents a gas tank being filled out found in gas stations mostly. 
35. This symbol means that there is a gas station near by and it is found on the roads or the internet. 
36. This sign means that the plane is going to take off and it is found in airports most likely. 
37. This is a trash can and is found sometimes in parks and many other places. 
38. This is an email symbol, its found on electronic mail and it notifies you when you get an email.
39.The cross means first aid and is found in homes and hospitals. 
40.I believe that the h stands for a hospital.
41.This symbol looks like someone going down the stairs. 
42. This is a person playing gold and usually found online for places for golf. 
43.This is a bonfire symbol and it usually found in parks. 
44. This is a litter sign and it is found in public places most of the time. 
45. This is a recycle symbol and it is found near trash cans. 
46. This sign means dog on a leash. 
47.This is a symbol that may represent a small hut or shelter to stay for a little while. 
48. This is a symbol that represents an ambulance and it usually found in the streets. 
49. This a small truck trying to park in a parking lot. Usually found in parking lots on parks.

(I) Watch Mr. Webb's demonstration and post notes to do the following on your blog:
- Creating a new canvas (document)
- press command +n
-for the size of document choose "letter" 
-for the orientation choose "portrait" (straight up and down)
- Interface navigation, drawing tools (Illustrator's shapes & using the Pen Tool)
-tool box,menus, panels (3 parts of illustrator)
-shapes
-rectangle (m) click and drag to draw 
- Setting the Fill Color, and the Stroke Color
- Saving file formats (saving for Adobe Illustrator editing vs. Saving an image for the web)

- Creating a new canvas (document)
     press Command+N to make a new canvas
     3 sections of Adobe Illustrator (Toolbox [left], Menu bar [at the top], Panels [right])
     PROFILE: Print, SIZE: Letter, ORIENTATION: Portait

- Interface navigation, drawing tools (Illustrator's shapes & using the Pen Tool)
    Rectangle Tool (M) - makes squares and rectangles with sharp edges
    Rounded rectangle tool - makes rectangles with rounded edges
    Ellipse tool - draw circles and ovals
    Polygon Tool - draws convex regular polygons.
    Star tool - draws stars; to add more edges tap the up arrow, to remove edges tap the down arrow; to     control the sharpness of the star, hold the command key while drawing the star.

   Selection Tool (V)- looks like a black arrow.  Use to select objects that you want to move, copy or     delete.

    Pen Tool (P) - draws line segments and curves

- Setting the Fill Color, and the Stroke Color
First, select your object or line.  
Second, click on the fill color box to set the fill color. 
OR, click on the stroke color box to set the stroke color

- Saving file formats (saving for Adobe Illustrator editing vs. Saving an image for the web)
Save for Adobe Illustrator = (.ai) <<Can ONLY be opened in Illustrator.
Save for the Internet/Your blog = (.jpeg, .gif, .png) << Can be uploaded to your blog.

(3) AMERICAN FLAG

The stars in the American Flag represent the 50 total states that we have currently. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies that declared independence from Great Britain. The white color in the stripes signifies purity and innocence, the red color represents hardiness and valour, the blue signifies justice.












(1) Defining terms related to concepts in Visual Communication

- Alphabet - An alphabet is just a bunch of symbols, letters, and graphemes that are used to write or speak a language. 













-Street sign- A street sign is a traffic sign to identify roads, located in mostly intersections. 

-Advertisement- An advertisement is a paid announcement, posted in newspapers, magazines, television etc.

-Constellation-It is a group of stars forming a pattern that is later named, and is recognized by mostly everyone. 
-ASCII symbols- It stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange and it is a format for text fles for computers and other equipment. 




-Electronic symbols-Electronic symbols are basically images that represent electronic or electric devices. 



-Morse Code- It is a method to send messages by a series of electronic pulses.



-American Sign Language-It is a sign language system that was developed im the US and is now recognized around the world.






-Glyph-A glyph is a character or a symbol.
